Well the time has come, for me to unfortunately have to pack up my rum collection. I'm moving to California in a month, and can't bring all this rum across the border with me. So until I can figure out how to cross the border with it, or until I move back to Canada, it's going to be packed away in a basement for storage. Sad. Let the boxing begin...
Was browsing the LCBO app and noticed something exciting. They are about to release a new rum, but not just any rum, a good one for a good price! Finally!
Its called, Goslings Family Reserve Old Rum. You might recognize the name Goslings because the LCBO has stocked their lower quality cheaper rum, Black Seal for a long time.
The family reserve is something special though. It was only kept for special occasions on the estate in Bermuda for a long time, until a few years ago they released it to the public. It's a truly wonderful sipper, with a superb presentation and for a great price $61.
The stock is still displaying 0, and I'm not sure if this is a one time thing and with limited supply as I've never seen them stock this before. So with that being said, I highly recommend picking up a bottle if you see it on the shelf. I got mine a couple years ago in California and have been enjoying it (slowly) ever since.
So I spent 2 days trying what I feel like a ton of rums! Trust me I'm not complaining! I went around and tried everything the festival had to offer, and knowing I could only pick 1 bottle to bring home was a tall task. However there was one rum that for its price point (50$) and absolutely wonderful balance and flavor I could not walk away from. Go online and search for this beauty and you'll find very little, but trust me, for the price and the minimum age 23 years, and superb quality of product, this is a gem! This is my new rum (and quite possibly one of my best acquisitions)!
A little over a week away from the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival! Can't wait.
Just got a friend to grab this one for me, as was sold out in Ottawa. It's a cheaper rum at around $38. From what I've read, this will likely be full of flavour but quite a bit stronger than the sippers I've been typically enjoying. Maybe a perfect mixing rum or a supper that'll put some hair on my chest. Great history behind it. Nice addition!
